Reverend Li Li Ji (黎力基) learned that believers in Zhang's village (樟村) of Wu Hua District (五华县) were in sorrow of persecution, and thus, he decided to travel to the village to find out the exact situation.In September of the year 1863, he started his journey from Hong Kong, along the way ,he passed by Gu Zhu(古竹),Zi Jin (紫金),Zhong Xin Ba(中心霸),Chang Bu(长布),YuanKeng (源坑) ,Zhan Yuan (粘元)and arrived at Zhang Village(彰村).
His journey to Zhang’s Village marked crucial developments in missionary work at WuHua District. After his journey to Zhang’s Village, he travelled back to Hong Kong. He then wrote a letter to the body of missionaries, to seek funding for the costs to build a Church at Yuan Keng, as well as requesting a pastor to be stationed at Zhang’s Village (樟村).
The gospel was then spread from Zhang and Yuan Keng villages to the nearby areas within a short period of time. The gospel reaches to places like; Lung Chuan (龙川) ,ZiJin (紫金) ,Mei distrct (梅县) ,and XinNing (兴宁) 。
The mission’s focus of the body of missionaries in China has then shifted from BaoAn, Hong Kong (香港,宝安) to the north-east part of Guangdong province.
In Year 1857, Xu Fu Guang(徐复光), Zeng Fu Xing(曾复兴) and etc went to YuanKeng(源坑)and ZanYuan (粘元), they were then having Sunday service by rotation in each family’s home.
In Year 1857, Reverend Li Li Ji (黎力基) passed by Gu Zhu (古竹),Zi Jin (紫金),Zhong Xin Ba(中心霸),Chang Bu(长布),YuanKeng (源坑) ,Zhan Yuan(粘元) and finally arrived at Zhang’s Village. He seeks the help from the officers to protect the believers; he then stationed at YuanKeng for a month.
In Year 1865, Reverend (毕牧师) who stationed at Zhang’s Village (樟村) , nurtured the believers, as well as built YuanKeng’s hall and school.
In Year 1866, the gospel was spread progressively to nearby district by Reverend Bi (毕牧师) who stationed at YuanKeng. YuanKeng has its primary school, Lang Kou( 浪口 ) has its church, while GuZhu (古竹) has its own worship hall.
In Year 1868, Zhang’s Village (樟村) established CunZhen(存真) Girls School, while YuanKeng established its own secondary school.
In Year 1873, YuanKeng built a secondary school, while GuZhu (古竹) Church was found this year 。
In Year 1877, YuanKeng re-established its preaching hall.
In Year 1888, YuanKeng hold a mission festival, thousands turned up.
In Year 1889, YuanKeng and Li Lang (李朗) convened conference of the two places committees.
In Year 1907, YuanKeng Secondary school moved to GuZhu(古竹) and established a teacher’s college.
In Year 1916, YuanKeng hosted the 50th anniversary festival.
In 1927, YuanKeng Secondary School was closed.
In Year 1934, YuanKeng and GuZhu(古竹) churches manage independently.
